Roberto Cortez Joins HSNO as a Partner in the Firm’s Dallas Office

Roberto Cortez formerly Deloitte joins HSNOHSNO is happy to announce the addition of Roberto Cortez as a partner in our Dallas office. Roberto brings over twenty years of experience in forensic investigations, crisis management, international transactions, and financial transformation. Roberto joined us from Deloitte Advisory, where he led the Americas Restructuring Services group, serving domestic clients and clients with cross-border challenges between the U.S., Mexico, and South America.

Roberto earned his CPA credentials after serving as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army. He spent the early part of his career at KPMG, where he  developed his expertise in corporate turnarounds and forensic investigations. He later moved on to Mesirow Financial before joining Deloitte in 2006. Over the course of his career Roberto has been a problem solver, helping clients unravel complex issues with insightful application of forensic principles and financial acumen. His army experience taught him how to work in challenging situations, working to quickly identify, and resolve problems

Roberto brings to HSNO a unique mix of large engagement experience. His career highlights include the Siemens FCPA investigation, in which he worked with Siemens, external counsel, the FBI, the Department of Justice, and the SEC to facilitate the forensic analysis of global banking records. He was also involved with the forensic investigation of the Deepwater Horizon disaster. In the crisis management arena, Roberto provided key advice to the management team of Pacific Exploration and Production during its historically large bankruptcy process. He also helped a major financial firm examine its mortgage portfolio for potential lending law violations following the financial crisis of 2007-2008

HNSO provides Roberto with a platform to expand his practice and he looks forward to continuing to provide assistance on cross-border disaster recovery matters, , where his international experience and Spanish language skills can improve client outcomes.

In addition to his accounting work Roberto also enjoys giving back to his community. He is actively involved in the Dallas arts community and also contributes to organizations focused on serving the needs of the area’s veterans.

In addition to being a CPA, Roberto is also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA).
